It seems we're having fantastic weather for our matches this year, as the Scotton U11s played in glorious sunshine yet again. Not only the weather, but the boys were on top form as well. The Scorchers kept the opposition, Ripley Rockets, pinned against their touch line for most of the match – and the Rocket's keeper was extremely busy. The Scotton coaches expressed the opinion that this was the best team performance they had seen in a long while. The passing was unselfish, insightful, and accurate; there was a clear desire to win the ball at every opportunity; and the shots on target were numerous. The final score line of 2-all was not indicative of the Scorcher's dominating control over the game, especially by two of our tireless midfielder's, Jamie and Lorcan. Ben, Jamie, Lorcan, and Giovanni all had some fabulous shots on goal, and the game would have been a runaway, if not for some superb saves by the Ripley keeper. Ben was lethal with his crosses and corners – one corner was to much for the Ripley defense to handle and slammed into the goal off a defender; and Ben's final cross of the match was headed in perfectly by an alert Sebbie. Man of the Match for the first game was Lorcan, who put in a fantastic game until his unfortunate injury in the second half.
The second U11 match saw a second set of Scorchers, who played with as much energy and control as the first set. Yet again, Scotton controlled most of the game with superb passing and teamwork. Again, the final score was not indicative of the run of play, with the Ripley winning 1-nil. Alfie was strong and quick in defense, Sebbie was master of the midfield, and Ollie played superbly out on the wing. Man of the Match for the second game was Sebbie.
