It’s been a great start to the season for Scotton
Scorchers U10/11 boys, with both teams showings some great individual and
collective team performances.
After a successful pre-season friendly where the
U10 boys took on 2 teams at Knaresborough Celtic’s Thistle Hill ground
and enjoyed 4 hard fought victories against some of their school
friends, all looked good going into the league campaign.
RESULTS 4-0 & 2-0 on one pitch and 2-1 and 6-2 on the other pitch,
thanks to some of the U9 boys for making the numbers up. A really
enjoyable day on a lovely pitch.
MATCH 1 Kirby Malzeard away
The tigers first game of the season was away at
Kirby Malzeard.
The boys seemed to start the game quite slowly
and after the first 5 minutes we were 2-0 down, I must admit I started
to worry. However, I believe the turning point in the match
was when Callum saved a penalty which would have meant Kirby would have
gone 3-0 up. I was delighted that this acted as catalyst for all the
boys and they all started working together as
a team. The moment Lewis got a goal back mid-way through the first
half, the boys all seemed to gain confidence and Jake added a further
goal before Lewis added 2 more clinical finishes before half time. The
second half was tough for the Tigers as Kirby came back in to the game, however the boys remained
determined Max, Elliot and Tom all contributed well and were all
resolute in defence and Joe, Lucas & Jake showed how fit they were
at getting up and down the pitch, they all defended with the
rest of the boys when required. Although we did concede a goal in the
second half to make it 4-3 it was good to see all the boys
congratulating each other at the final whistle, which will put them in
good stead for the rest of the season. STAR PLAYER on the
day was Callum who produced some amazing saves as well as the penalty
save ‘well done Callum!’.
