Following the successful BBQ that we ran at the Scotton Bonfire on Monday, Tuesday saw the committee joined by some players at Bradford City FC for the FA County award ceremony. Scotton Scorchers had been nominated as FA Development Club of the Year award and were invited to the ceremony as winners.
As Chairman it was my great pleasure to go up and collect the award on behalf of the committee, the coaches and the players who contributed to us winning this award. I felt honoured to do so as I know how much hard work goes on behind the scenes to make the football club an award winning club.
My expectations were to be surpassed however as when collecting the award it was announced that each award winner was also entered into the north regional final (which covers all clubs from Newcastle to Sheffield). The Scorchers had been successful and were indeed crowned North Region FA Development Club of the Year 2012!!! We received a second certificate and a plaque that we can put up on the new pavilion as a reminder to our club members and visitors alike what a great football club we have created.
The club were recognised for being in existence for just 9 years and having already achieved FA Development Standard status (which is not mean feat on its own). It was highlighted that we had demonstrated the right attitude to player development, the dedication of the volunteer coaches and in particular the opportunity that we offer to all children who want to play football irrespective of age, gender, ability or experience.
I am sure that you agree that this is a great achievement and will join me in thanking the hard working committee, the coaches, volunteers, fund raisers and of course the players on their hard work which contributed to us winning this award.
