Honors Even across the Boys in our first games vs Tockwith

Scotton Scorchers boys had a mixed bag of results in our first matches of the season, held last Saturday Sept 26 at Percy Fields. In perfect football weather Scotton played host to Tockwith.

U7s
Scotton's U7's, fielding a whole host of bright, new players, were first up. As ever, we ran two pitches, however with Tockwith only having 8 available players, one pitch ran competitive games and the other pitch was used to play friendly games with the boys all mixed up.
The first 'competition game' saw the Coaches group together our more experienced players together against Tockwith who always field all-year-2's. And what a start. Historically Scotton have always struggled against Tockwith, but the club experience of this group, with many haviing played together for two years already, saw them put in an amazing team as well as some great individual performances. A half-time score of 6-0 to the bots tells it's own story, with a hat-trick from Lewis Francis as well as some strong midfield play (plus the odd goal) from Joseph Navier and some sharp goal-poaching up from from Jack Sherwin.
Half time saw Tockwith change a few things and shore things up, and while this reduced the goal tally, did nothing to change the boys dominance. A final score of 8-1 is the boys best result in a while, with a deserved MOTM going to Cameron Bedford.
The second competive game saw all our new joiners, a mix of reception, year 1 plus one very influencial new year 2 player took to the field. Against the older Tockwith boys, the result was probably never in doubt. However it was a great first-match experience for all the 'newbies' who played with smiles and with some great flashes of promise. As the game progressed the boys got more confident and got a deserved goal on the break, and while the final score saw Tockwith beat our youngsters 8-1 all the boys, and all the parents, really enjoyed the morning. For a big performance in his first game, the MOTM went to Alexander Rickards.

U9s
Our big U9's squad this year played their two games vs Tockwith with shared spoils. A big step up for those boys in our U7s last year - including a much bigger pitch leading to much more tired legs.
Our first game saw our more experienced boys use what they know to record a quality home vistory against Tockwith. Game two, despite some very mature football from some of those new to the squad, saw Tockwith even up the scores with a win.

U11s
Scotton U11s first game of the season played in glorious sunshine produced two entertaining games. The boys acquitted themselves extremely well, with lots of commitment from all the players taking part. However we came up against a strong Tockwith side and lost the first game 2 - 1. Scotton played some strong and entertaining football with the goal being scored by Jamie Foster with The Man of the Match for the starting game of the season being Jake Jones. In the Second game, again Scotton committed themselves very well playing some good football against an older and bigger side. Unfortunately the score of 6 - 1 to tockwith did not reflect how well the team played. Man of the Match in the second game was Alfie Wells. All in all a very promising start to the season.
