7's and 9's bite the Bullets but 11's get gunned down.

Scottons 7's played host to Burton Leonard at home on Saturday in the latest round of Nidderdale League fixtures. As ever we ran two pitches, but this weekend, to ensure all got games, on one pitch we mixed the boys from the clubs up - something we haven't done before but we were really pleased with how the boys adapted.

In the first Scotton v BL game, a flurry of goalmouth action looked like it was almost inevitable that Scorchers would score. Somehow the ball wouldn't go in, and the boys then got punished with a break away goal and a very calm finish from Burton Leonard. In the second half, Scotton continued their pressure and finally got their reward with three quick goals (including one from Joseph Navier, celebrating his 6th birthday in style) to run out eventual winners 3-1.

On the 'mixed up' pitch, Tom Johnson was seemingly scoring for fun, but some great goalkeeping from Ethan Ive kept the match competitive. The teams then switched pitches, and Tom continued his goal haul with (and the coaches were beginning to lose count) at least another five, with Ewan also pitching in with a deserved goal, the final score ending up Scotton 8 - 0 Burton Leonard. On the 'mixed up' pitch, the game was a much more even affair, with Cameron Bedford nearly doing enough single-handedly to pull his side level. In the end this game finished 3-2.

Scotton's 9's also played two victorious games vs the Bullets with good displays from Jamie Foster among others.

Scorchers 11's game was even up to half time with a 1-2 score. In the second half Burton had the wind with them which helped with the long ball from their keeper. Burton were quick to the ball and capitalised on that and shot freely. Burton's no.6 scored a magnificent solo effort to put the visitors 1-3 up and finished the game with a low edge of the box drive past the Scotton keeper. With a final score of Scotton 1 - 4 BL we take away a consolation goal and things to improve on in training. The friendly match saw the boys get their scoring boots on. However, so did the bullets with the final score ending in an entertain but also disappointing 4-9 loss.
