Scorchers put a Rocket up Ripley and cement their table-topping positions

Scotton Scorchers Boys played their penultimate Nidderdale league
matches against Ripley last Saturday at a boggy Percy Fields.

Our under 11's put in another pair of great performances running out
3-1 winners in the league and 6-0 winnners in the firndly. That results
almost gaurantees Scottons place at the top of the table with a match
to go.

Scottons U9s played out a closely-contested under difficult pitch
conditions, the match ending in a goalless draw. In the first half,
both teams created many scoring opportunities with Danny Bradshaw and
Dominic Tear both coming close to scoring for Scotton on a number of
occasions. Strong defending from both teams kept the forwards out and
Jake Jones in goal for Scotton produced a
fantastic save to deny Ripley the lead from a well-taken corner. The
second half produced more of the same end-to-end excitement, with
substitute Jamie Foster almost clinching the match for Scotton with a
late opportunity. The following friendly saw Scotton find their
goal-scoring boots and ease to a 3-1 victory with goals from Jake
Jones, George Dooley and Alex Shaw. As with the 11s, that victory
almost seals top spot in the league for Scotton.

Scotton U7s again proved that they are at home in the mood by racking
up 2 victories against the rockets, coming from behind in the first to
win 2-1 and edging the seond 1-0, before finally tiring in the third
with conditions getting heavy underfoot, with the Rockets easing to a
deserved 0-3 win.

This saturday sees Tockwith visit Percy Fields for the final match of
the season. See you there!!!
