No stopping the Scorchers U11s
The two squads continued their successful start with our Red team in the in the Village Team against Tockwith and the Black team in the H&D Player Development League.
The boys U11 black squad continued their terrific start to the season with convincing 3-0 and 6-0 victories over Wetherby in the Harrogate & District Player Development League. After patiently waiting to break down the Wetherby defence, a goal eventually came from Charlie Philips. This was closely followed by an absolute scorcher from Luke MacCalman and the third from Josh Osborne sealed the win. In the second game a hat trick for Sam Bull provided the icing on the cake, along with 2 goals for Ollie Kon and one for Izaak Walmsley.
These wins came hot on the heels of strong performances against Knaresborough Celtic a couple of weeks earlier. 5-1, 6-1 and 12-0 victories away at the Spinney demonstrate the strength in depth of the black squad.
Played 5, won 5, goals for 32, goals against 2. Let’s hope the boys can keep up these sort of statistics for the rest of the season!
The Red squad travelled to Tockwith on the back of a magnificent victory against close rivals Hampswaithe. From the first whistle the result was never in doubt with the team notching up a 10 - 0 victory. Impressively (unlike the national team), we continued to press and play quality football to the end. Harry Fewkes was as ever dominant and notched up 5 goals, with Hugo Corbet on 3 and one a piece for Jordon Tear and Elliott Tutt.
U9s
The U9s continued their impressive start at Tockwith. In the league game, Scotton finished 5 - 0 winners including some impressive football being played, with goals from many including Ben Lockwood and Dom Tear.. In the friendly fixture Scotton again came out on top with a 7 - 3 score line, with a hat-trick+ coming from Sam Gibbon and Jake Hargreaves among the goals again.
U7s
Our rapidly improving U7s boys came up against a well organised Tockwith outfit. In the opening game, Scotton got hit early with quick goals, but some amazing goalkeeping from Jacob Bradshaw and defending from Wilf Bowles say Scotton dig in and put in a battling second half, with final score 2-0/ In the second match, Scotton continued to improve and scored a well deserved penalty through Callum Penny. However, even the strong defending from David Lyons couldn't stop Tockwith edging back into the game with a late equalizer, the match finishing at 1-1.
