SCOTTON SCORCHERS JFC boys kicked off their new Nidderdale League season at the brand new, purpose laid home at Percy Fields, with all ages playing Hampsthwaite & Birstwith.
For the U11's, an opening fixture against Hampsthwaite was always going to be competitive tie and the spectators were not disappointed. The standard of football throughout was of an exceptional standard with maximum effort on both sides. Following an early goal from Luke Poundly, SCOTTON's Harry Fewkes scored a stunning second to secure a well earned victory for the Scorchers. Tom Brennan in goal for Scotton was kept busy in the second half, and with a clean sheet was man of the match, securing the 2-0 win. In the following friendly, Scotton came away 3 -1 winners.
The U9s produced two excellent displays. The first ended 3 - 1 to Scotton with two goals from Danny Bradshaw and a goal from Dominic Tear, supported by some excellent defending from Harry Newsome and goalkeeping by Jake Jones. This was followed by an entertaining 1 - 1 draw, with a goal by Jake Jones, levelling the scores for Scotton after Hampthswaite had taken the lead.
Scottons youngest, the U7's, also played Hampsthwaite, and against a strong squad, put in some great individual performances, with some strong midfield battling from Joseph Navier and goals from Callum Penny.
