U10s battle to the end
It was the turn of the U10s to show the rest of Yorkshire what Scotton have to offer and the boys didn't let us down. A squad of 8 boys from the U11s represented the club in a very competitive and hard-fought Tournament played out through a series of round-robin leagues (over 4 very hot hours). In match one our boys played undoubtedly the best football of the season, but as sometimes happens, totally against the run of play and with only one shot on game all match, the opposition stole a 1 - 0 win. Loosing Harry Fewkes to injury early in game 2 was a major blow, not least that we were allowed just 2 subs with three crucial games ahead. Charlie Baker filed the gap with style and continued the Scotton dominance from midfield. In the following two matches Hugo Corbett and Harry Wells fought heroically up front, never giving a yard, Jonny Vaux blasted from outside the box only to be cruelly denied and the back line of Tom Brennan (GK) and outstanding contributions from Jordan Tear and Elliot Tutt ensured two clean sheets in games 2 and 3. The efforts of our boys continued right to the last match. Whilst we did not progress through to the quarter final stages, it was a fantastic, and for the very most part enjoyable experience and a tremendous advertisement for the club

Scorchers U7s thrive in the heat.
Unfazed by the prospect of 5 games on a hot summers day Scotton U7s won
their first game 1-0 with Alex Shaw scoring. In the second game Alex
scored again but the game was dominated by Sam Gibbon who capped an all
action display with a goal to give Scorchers a 2-0 win. The third game was
a seesaw affair with Scotton taking an early lead then conceding an
equaliser to a powerful long range effort. As so often during the season
however ,Sebi Corbett slid in a last minute winner to provide a 2-1 victory
for Scorchers.
The fourth match was against the strongest team in the group,Crossleys, and
although the players battled valiantly a goal half way though the second
half gave Scorchers their first defeat.
In game 5 the boys were determined to finish with a good performance and
despite long waits between games and temperatures more suited to
sunbathing, they produced an all action display and dominated the game. A
Sebi Corbett jinking run and cool finish gave Scorchers the lead but in the
last minute our opponents produced a flowing move and scored. Despite Alex
grabbing the ball and sprinting to the centre spot the game finished 1-1.
Thanks to players and parents for their efforts and most of all patience.
Enjoy the summer Boys.
