In the final round of their Nidderdale League fixtures last Saturday, SCOTTON SCORCHERS boys teams took on their local rivals, Ripley Rockets.
In a close fought Under 11 fixture, Scotton Scorchers finally came out on top 4-2 against Ripley Rockets, with goals from Hugo Corbett, Luke Powderly, Elliot Plews and Harry Wells. The friendly match featured a superb goalkeeping display by Tom Brennan and resulted in a 1-1 draw.
Scotton's U9 unfortunately didn't have the same success, losing 0-3 to an excellent Ripley squad.
The U7's continued their fine league form. After going 1-0 up early on through Alex Shaw, Ripley soon leveled, but Shaw grabbed another to send the Scorchers in at half-time 2-1 up. In the second half, The Scorchers took hold of the game with some fast attacking moves led by Seb Corbett. Jamie Foster grabbed a hat-trick, and Sam Gibbon also got himself of the scoresheet, with Scotton running out 6-2 winners. The Under 7's now await the final league table nervously to see whether they can add to our girls successes. In the friendly, the Rockets got their revenge with a great performance, and despite Scotton defending in numbers, Ripley won the match 5-0.
